Two days of brilliant talks and interactive workshops

Leeds Psyched society welcome you to attend the National Student Psychiatry Conference 2017! We welcome all students who are interested in mental health, clinical psychology and psychiatry.

The conference takes place over the course of two days and will consist of a series of lectures and talks as well as some interactive workshop sessions.

​

Our aim is to provide an insight into psychiatry research, patient experiences, and career options. The event offers a great opportunity for students from all over the UK to meet, learn and socialise.

Friday Evening:

Meet and greet from 6pm for those arriving on Friday evening at The Old Bar in the Leeds University Union Building.

​

Saturday Evening:

Hot food will be served in Pyramid in the Leeds University Union Building from 6pm-7:30pm. Choose from Chicken Korma or Sweet Potato, Chickpea and Spinach Curry, both  served with rice and naan bread.

​

From 7:30 there will be a QUIZ and LIVE MUSIC from The Arrhythmics Big Band, after which we will continue the fun in Leeds City Centre!

For non-members and external attendees, tickets are £25. We do have a limited number of places for accommodation with these tickets and these will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. Accommodation will either be in a hostel or student house. Please express a preference for accommodation when you fill out the registration form.

Competitions

Competitions

We are running two competitions this year in which all conference delegates can be involved:

 

Yearly poster competition: Please submit abstracts of no more than 250 words to info.psyched@gmail.com with the subject ‘NSPC Poster Competition’. Posters will be judged over the conference weekend by our panel of judges and there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place (£100, £50 and £20 Amazon vouchers respectively).

 

Essay competition: Please submit essays of 1500-2000 words in length, (excluding references, appendices and abstract) on any title pertaining to the topic of ‘Bringing Neuroscience and Psychiatry Together’. This essay title is inspired by the new RCPsych Gatbsy-Wellcome Project aimed at the incorporation of the latest advances in Neuroscience into the Psychiatry Training Curriculum. Essays will be judged by the organising committee and there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place (£100, £50 and £20 Amazon vouchers respectively). Please submit essays to info.psyched@gmail.com with the subject ‘NSPC Essay Competition’.

 

Both competitions will close at 5pm on 8th February 2017.
